Joan has always had an interest in drawing and painting.
After leaving school in Cheshire, Joan trained as a draughtswoman in engineering! Not quite an artistic job, but she was able to hone her skills in producing neat drawings. While bringing up two boys she started painting in her 'spare' time.

In 1992, Joan won the "Prize for the Best Miniature", at the Society of Miniaturists Summer Exhibition.
Previously, she has won the "Prize for the Best Pastel" three times at the Cheshire Artists Exhibition.

Joan Fielden - Artist
Attending evening classes, local art societies and demonstrations by well-known artists all helped in her development as an artist. An interest in pastels and acrylics came from this time. A family interest in the countryside, birds and animals led to paintings of these subjects. Joan’s latest work includes abstracts based on observed images.
